FUNDBÜRO: 53rd St. IND NYC Subway Station handmade signage

Thanks to So Much Pile Up Blog i can present here the few pictures of creating process of this amazing handmade signage.
According to the Blog, "in 1977, graphic designer Robert Propper of Propper/Elman Design/Planning (...) was approached by the Public Arts Council of the NYC to redesign subway stations, transforming them from drab underground waiting rooms into vibrant public art spaces. Over the course of two weeks, Propper, aided by a small group of Pratt students and armed with paint, brushes, and masking tape, turned the 53rd St. IND Station into a colorful wonderland."
I am gojng to think about a 'masking tape and paint project' of my own. I kind of forgot how much i used to enjoy using stancils and paint.

'Sign Graphics: Walk This Way'

I was invited by Maomao Publications, a Barcelona-based book packager and publishing house specialized in art & design to feature the signage system I developed for the Rainbow Children Hospital in a new book 'Sign Graphics: Walk This Way'. "The publication will put together innovative signage and wayfinding projects, in an effort to effectively represent a sourcebook for any professional interested in knowing the state of the art in this field." I am looking forward to be part of the book.

The enchanted kindergarden

The project is a result of an architectural competition for 2 kindergartens in Tromso, Norway. 70°N arkitektur "kindergartens have been built to have the possibility of variety in the use of rooms. With very simple moves one can change each room into new rooms of various sizes and functions. There are several options for combinations and joint actions of rooms and spaces.

One of the main ideas is that each base has two adjustable walls (fixed in one end, and wheels on the other) that gives the room a variety of combinations of small and large rooms. The walls are built with various shelves, drawers, blackboards, climbing partitions, puppet show sections and so on."

Fun and functional! What a lovely way to enhance the minds of kids with colours and a lot of imagination.

Best Easter Wishes in 1908

How crazy Ester can be? This was some creative man, who art directed this quite surrealistic picture! The saddest thing is that is that the only way to get a chick to stay that still for such a long exposure is to use a stuffed chick... Source

Sipho Mabona is an origami artist. Origami, the ancient Japanese art of paper folding, can create stunning video commercials when combined with stop motion recording. This video, created for Asics by Sipho’s company Mabona Origami, is the world wide corperate movie that tells the story of the japanese sports brand ASICS won several international prizes. Aston Martin Bulldog [1980] Concept Car

I couldn't resist myself from publishing pictures of this amazing car.

Styled by William Towns, the Aston Martin Bulldog was ultimately built as a one-off testbed. Originally, it had been intended to be a limited run of about 25. It was built in the UK, but is a left-hand-drive car. It has an incredibly low height at 110 cm high, and featured a sharp, distinctive gull-wing door design. The interior uses digital instrumentation (!!!) and the rear view is delivered via a television monitor mounted on the center console (a later addition).

The first test drive of the Aston Martin Bulldog came in late 1979 and was a great success. After the development program was over, Aston Martin sold the only Bulldog to the highest bidder. Source

And this one is Lotus Esprit, one of James Bond vehicles. It's here because it's amazing and Bulldog reminds Lotus a bit and because I find this picture extremely inspiring.

Typotheque's Klimax is a display typeface (meant for use in extremely large sizes) with four styles and OpenType features. It includes two basic styles, Plus and Minus — the heaviest and the lightest possible styles that can be made. Klimax was designed in 2009 by Ondrej Jób.

un centime francais

We found it some time back in William grandma's collection of coins. 1962 - as you can see. I love the lettering. Why they don't use such cute types on coins any more?
