We spent a nice Sunday afternoon walking on the beach of Scheveningen in Den Haag. Some sun, some wind, some sand and few inspirations: A Tower at the end of Pier van Sheveningen.
The view at De Pier and Sheveningen from the tower.
On our way back we found "Alice in Wonderland" kind of flyover in Delft. Avant Garde neon light in the harbor of Rotterdam. How beautiful and uncommon!
Holland: apart of tasty and beautifully designed beers like Grolsh you can also find crappy beer (like this one), but crappy doesn't mean badly designed. i.e. look at this cute little logotype.
Yesterday, there was launched a new look of MTV, which was created by MTV's creative directors from around the world in collaboration with UK-based studio Universal Everything. The new logo is, in fact, the old logo - but in MTV's new look, the logo remains black on a white ground - no colour, pattern or texture will ever adorn it - which is a change from MTV of old.
MTV Networks International now has a new flexible typographic navigation system for displaying onscreen information. The typeface used for this primary information is Pharma Bold Condensed by Swiss type foundry Optimo.
As well as the main programme info, more playful messages will appear in the lower third of the screen - and for this text, there is a collection of secondary brand typefaces to choose from, depending on the mood of the message. The eight secondary typefaces were selected for their expressive or emotion-inducing nature - and to add an element of fun to the onscreen identity of the channel. The faces are American Typewriter Light Italic, Balloon Bold, Bigcity Maxi, Cozzap Open, Flash ND, Futura SB Bold Italic, Sahara Bodoni and Signpainter House Brush.
Here's an example of how these will be used onscreen (excellent).
Each of the MTV idents has exactly the same 2/2 time signature – a heartbeat-like rhythm to which the MTV logo always pulsates. I present here still frames of my three favourite spots. You can watch all six of the new identshere
A great website, which is an amazing library of rare hi-res images of ancient books. There are few books about graphic arts as well. Have you ever seen pages of Albrecht Durer's De Symmetria... and Underweysung der Messung orManuale Tipografico byGiambattista Bodoni? Here's your chance
It's been a long time since I did any sketches in the open air. Today, I was sitting outside this little brasserie and I found a view pretty interesting, so I decided to draw it!When I came back home, I decided to post the image on my blog and even more - check if and how Google registered the same spot. Forgive me Google, but you loose ha ha ;)

Wallpaper samples books found in Dreyfus in Marche Saint Pierre [six floors (0-5) filled with fabric bolts of different kinds]. The book is POPier Pent by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. My favorite pattern of all is the one looking like a huge, neverending receipt.
Another interpretation of zoo abc! a handwritten wallpaper by JC de Castelbajac.

Lately I have finished a logo and business card design for a young product designer William F Boujon, originally from France currently living in Rotterdam.
He is a strict mind seeking for clever solutions and inspirations in features of various materials. He loves to work with his hands and experience both, the design and creating process by his own. You are more than welcome to visit wfboujon.com
My friends, Piotr and Anastazja (both creative and great people) got married on the 29th of May and the pop-up card was made for them. Congratulations once again guys!
The idea for this card was inspired by a template from Hiroko at Canon's Creative Park, but I modified the template by adding the cake's third level. I also created a typographic pattern of the couple's names, which would be the elementary decoration of the cake. This cute little couple on the top of the cake resembles the actual newly-weds.
'Gorzko', the word appearing on the front cover is a special toast at Polish wedding party. It means 'bitter' but actually 'we want more sweet kisses!', so the groom kisses the bride in front of everybody once again... and again... and again!
An amazing trailer was made to promote a new xbox game (which seems to be not interesting at all). Splendid short animated story of John, Paul, George and Ringo onstage, in the travel trying to escape their histerical fans and in dreamscapes that bring their psychedelic imagery to life. So who wants to join the band? Watch it in HD here
Thanks to So Much Pile Up Blog i can present here the few pictures of creating process of this amazing handmade signage. According to the Blog, "in 1977, graphic designer Robert Propper of Propper/Elman Design/Planning (...) was approached by the Public Arts Council of the NYC to redesign subway stations, transforming them from drab underground waiting rooms into vibrant public art spaces. Over the course of two weeks, Propper, aided by a small group of Pratt students and armed with paint, brushes, and masking tape, turned the 53rd St. IND Station into a colorful wonderland." I am gojng to think about a 'masking tape and paint project' of my own. I kind of forgot how much i used to enjoy using stancils and paint. source
The book 'Type Player' to which I contribute my type works ('Merry Christmas' and '2009 Oh Yeah!' cards) is coming out.
'Type Player collects the world¡'s latest and creative typographic design and their applications. This book is expected to be an indispensable resource to any designer who looks forward to original and high-quality work.' ------ I feel honoured to be a part of this great publication.
Long time ago I came across a website full of creative type inspirations. Plenty hand lettering, sketches and typefaces can be found on Daily Type
"Daily Type is a creative project run by several Russian type designers. Day by day, they create original typefaces and post their results along with routine."
