Best Diploma Projects 2007/08 - the opening of the exhibition

Best Diploma Projects is a review of works of design graduates in Poland. It has been organized for the last six years by the 2+3D - Polish Design Quarterly. For the last four years it has it's continuation in the exhibition prepared together with the Silesian Castle of Art and Enterprise in Cieszyn. The review does not have the a character of a contest, the formula assumes that there is no winner. 10 best projects (according to the jury) is presented in quarterly 2+3D. There are always more works at the exhibition, so this year has been chosen 21 projects. The jury consists of representatives of the magazine editors, the Silesian Castle and designers of different specialization.

Introducing: Karol Sliwka

There are very few people who can be easily classified as icons of Polish graphic design.There are few artists, who over the last half century have developed a visual identification systems, logos, posters, packaging and signs for such a large group of Institutions.There are very few such people as Karol Śliwka.

Karol Sliwka is one of the most celebrated graphic designers and logotypes author in Poland and Eastern Europe. He designed brandings for many Polish institutions. He still works using only pens and paper, and refuses to use computer programmes. Sliwka's graphics combine simplicity, functionality, readability, universal significance, great composition and thorough design. He also created many posters, packagings, covers and stamps. Although he's 76 years old now, he still keeps on working saying that design is his true love.

TYPE PLAYER

2 plus 3D!!!

Lucky me. My graduation project - Children Hospital Wayfinding System was honored by being chosen as one of the best graduation projects in Poland 2007/08. The work will be published in the upcoming January issue of 2+3D and presented on few exhibitions in Poland, beginning in Cieszyn (30.01 - 15.03), then Warsaw, Cracow and Poznan. I would like personally thank the 2+3D grafika plus produkt | Polish Design Quarterly for appreciating my work and Tomasz Budzyń for a great comment on the project.
