Introducing: Anna-Wili Highfield

Anna-Wili Highfield is a Sydney based artist currently making sculptures of animals from paper and from copper pipe. The paper sculptures are created from archival cotton paper, that is painted, then sewn together, to create the figure of an animal. The copper pipe is bent and manipulated to create sculptural forms reminiscent of line drawings.

Espigueiro

Espigueiro is a granary built with stone, raised from the ground by pillars to avoid the access of rodents. The origin of the espigueiros is the horreum from the Roman Empire. They can be found in northern Portugal, as well as northern Spain aaand Sweden.

I photographed this one in a little village called Brufe, in the very north of Portugal. Peculiar, right?
